It's called the Track of the Day: Jag hatar män.

And the track of the day is...

Elenette - Jag hatar män (off 2008's Maskulinitet EP)

Pulp and Circumstance knows pretty much next to nothing about this brilliant Stockholm-based indie pop act, Elenette, but knows it's deliciously sweet Swedish pop.

Why can't I get off the Swedish indie pop kick? Seriously, my teeth are going to rot out. Help me.

This track, "Jag hatar män", is featured on their 2008 EP Maskulinitet, and there's some long, exhaustive explaination at their myspace page about what it all means--their group, the name, the EPs, their relation to math and zeros and gender idenity bounds and all sorts of things I scanned and skimmed but couldn't wrap my head around. Too philosophical for this here commonplace humble blogger, so I'll just stick to declaring that these tunes are addicting, melodic, and absolutely delicious to gobble up. Drools.

While it's Swedish-language pop that I simply cannot understand since I am not versed in, um, every language around, I know the EP is comprised of some Spanish-inspired, miriachi horned tracks that are unexpected and downright exciting for this genre, and there's our track of the day, which apparently means "I Hate Men". Interesting. I don't hate men, but I love this tune, whatever the heck they are singing about, I'll take it.

Signed to Cosy Recordings, expect great things from this band. And here's to hoping a full-lengther will drop soon enough.

So enjoy some Swedish indie pop you can't understand...unless of course you speak Swedish. In that case, let us all in on the secrets.

Testosterone is a strong religion
the ten commandments control half the world population
and our principles include scientific.

mostly we are failing, but we will always escape
for it is our game and we love those rules
that can not be wrong

Oh, I hate men, we believe we are sent from heaven
I hate guys when we think we actually have something you like.

you close your eyes and it feels so good, who turn down sweet dreams?
it is hardly, worth to see something beautiful too close
indeed closer he gets, the harder he turns a blind eye
s harder he turns a blind eye, the more beautiful is becoming
words like guilt and responsibility makes the Strong warrior afraid
they will corrode his armor, so he will denude

Oh, I hate men, we believe we are sent from heaven
I hate guys when we think we actually have something you like
I hate men when we are with our defense of our stupidity show
I hate men when we force ourselves on anyone who just wants to go home

the cock is heavy to bear ...

I hate men because we believe that someone other than ourselves cares about our little lalalalala ...
