After "waxing poetic" on the brilliant pieces in the latest issue of the high glossy yesterday, I want to urge you to read a bit further. The mention of the feature on Sly Stone does in fact come excerpted from a book on the reclusive funk father's life by a San Francisco based writer John Kaliss, who left comment on my blog yesterday thanking the lovely magazine we dropped drooling homage yesterday too, as well.
The book, published by BackBeat, last fall, tells the story of an explosive musician, and the man considered to be the epic "father of funk". It's an essential read for all music devotees, especially those who like genre shapers.
You can pick up the book here and if you're equally interested as humble blogger is, you can read more of the author's work and deets on his life, here. Let me know if you read it. I intend to settle into it next.
Happy reading.
